"The irreverent poetic look" The woman who will wear the O.titude Spring/Summer 2003 collection certainly has a strong personality and she lacks insecurity of any kind. She is a woman I would dare to describe as "poetically irreverent", who can wear clothes full of references to nature, love, customs and music with nonchalance and natural unawareness, and she can even treat vulgarity with a sense of humour. The structure of the essential lines of the covered and etched cotton items merges with the satin weave crosscut forms which evoke the 1930s, coming in dusty colours decorated with flowers in aged fabric. The nostalgia continues with prints which remind us of mawkish wallpaper - those chiffon and jersey dresses full of old braid, that look worn and threadbare, just as if they have come out the wardrobe of an improbable great-grandmother who could even become pop in colour. Homage is paid to Jorge Amado's Brazil with the chiffon and satin weave prints borrowed from the almost graffiti-like encrustrations on fishing boats stranded on the incline of the Mercado Modelo in Salvador de Bahia. Plastic gonflette graphics reproduce the scores and lyrics of songs like Linda and La Garota di Ipanema. And lastly, the divertissement of bad language...but no offence please!
