DESTABILIZATION, that’s one of the names I might give this collection. DESTABILIZATION, which I take to mean the lack of absolute certainty and identity which inevitably and logically generates a mixture or blend of styles and quite disturbingly exalts the colours used in a highly expressive way. Why not combine together a verse from the Bible in Latin and Euclid’s theorem transcribed by Leonardo with the design of a Scottish plaid discovered by a Brazilian Pousada? Or the works of Viz Muniz with a somewhat descralized Holy Shroud? All this to be done in fabrics which are both natural and not, covered with brush-strokes in winter-proof colours. I wanted to create 30 unique garments, along with a set of cool, irresistible little objects: tiny tiny tops, half-gloves and mittens, and various completely interchangeable mini-shirts which can be worn as a finishing touch to the one basic dress: the fabrics used are “cool wool”, ecopelle, polyester, and layers of printed tulle. The models are defined in body-hugging tartans and mohair lace and there is some very soft underwear made of a 90% angora fabric. |
