“O.BSERVE THIS CONCRETE SUBJECT”
“O.bserve this concrete subject” is the result of a Dadaist game:
several pieces of paper with randomly written words are put in a hat, each player takes one out until a randomly meaningful, or an absolutely meaningless sentence is formed, it doesn’t matter which.
This is the moment when what we could call a “Discursive Intrigue” takes shape. O.titude’s winter collection is inspired by the Dadaist movement in art and literature: its name was chosen at random, playing in a almost desecrating way with the Historical Masterpieces of the early 20th century combined with “Contemporary Evidence” that was also collected randomly.
Lampblack, Whiteyellow, Cardinalpurple, Caramelpink, Mercurysilver are the colours of the background to images of “Studies on Animal and Human Locomotion”, “Dada Words”, “Chromatic Geometries”, “Classical Icons”, ”Charming Gentlemen of the Old Days”, as well as of “Coeval Signs” of real-life, borrowed from box office hits or fridge magnets.
This winter O.titude is structured to meet the needs of a woman who has decided to dress up all day long.
Therefore, there are not only dresses, but also everything that makes the outfit complete. A small overcoat in grosgrain torn cloth, satin bomber jackets with hand-made zippers, crocheted jumpers with roses in relief, small cashmere boleros and ponchos with silk chiffon lining, or made of soft wool embroidered with sequins for an “unstitched” look, roughly dyed striped micro-pullovers to be worn as underwear, elaborate pairs of glove-like sleeves, detachable collars.
During the day, polka dot pinafore dresses made of two-layers of boiled wool, or loose-fitting jersey dresses with slightly proud sleeves and patterns reproducing “Fake scallops”, “Fake laces”, “Fake buttons” and “Fake tackings”.
At night, satin skirts, sparkling with sequin embroideries and threads of long hanging beads for sparkling women and deliberately old-fashioned semi-felted dresses, light wool or jersey, with “ton sur ton” hand made accessories, rigorously “Black”, for the more sophisticated.
